Blue Light May Lead to Eye Problems

The blue light is the screen on your phone, computer or tablet. Even though it seems benign, studies indicate that staring at these lights for an extended period of time may lead to severe eye problems in the future.

Dr. Michael Cross, the owner of OneVision Health and Wellness says that clinical research indicates that prolonged viewing of the blue light is linked to eye problems. The problem is due to the amount of time we are spending in front of these electronic devices. I believe the TV should be included in this list. Their research found that the light emitted by the screen is in the range of the light spectrum which is the most harmful. The wave length, 430 to 440 nanometers, is deemed to be very damaging to the eyes. The shorter the wave length is high in energy, it penetrates through the lens and strikes the retina.

One of the eye problems it causes is macular degeneration which can result in blindness. Considering that these devices are ubiquitous, macular degeneration is expected to increase and occur sooner.
