In some pregnant women, pregnancy hormones badly affect mood. In one study, the effect of mindfulness meditation was observed in pregnant women who were suffering from major depression, and it was found that depressive symptoms were significantly reduced in women who underwent mindfulness meditation training for 10 weeks. The mothers-to-be also showed more intense bonding to their babies in the womb.
