Why Should Education Be Free For Everyone?

Hi folks, hope we all are having a good time here.

I just wonder if the education system across all countries is same as mine or we are the only left in this planet. That’s the reason i wrote down a few lines which i think is a major ongoing and never ending issue.

Education is the most prominent source of livelihood for the survival of a human being. Through education, knowledge is passed on from one generation to the next. It teaches a person morality, humility, and how to be a loyal, honest, and active citizen of the country.

However, there are a lot of people in the world who are not able to receive education. Schooling is the root of education. If proper schooling is not imparted to a person, it is difficult for him/her to get good education. Many children are not able to go to school because of financial difficulties, or because the society is prejudiced on education for girls. Therefore, education should be made free, or it must be made available at a nominal cost.

If we take an example of some hugely populated countries like China and India the responsibility of imparting free and fair education to everyone becomes even more important. However, one may, on the other hand, also point out that free education is hard to provide because there are millions of people who are in need of education. Also, if education is made free for all till the highest level, it may not be practical, especially for professional courses like engineering or medicine. If education is made free, it may become difficult for colleges and universities to bear the cost of such expensive courses. So, “Should education be made free?” The answer is definitely not easy.

Thank you guys for reading if you did :D, and let me know what you think.

Peace out

An Explosive Match At The Pittodrie, Aberdeen 2 vs 4 Rangers Match Review.

Rangers bid of securing a Scottish Premiership title for the 1st time in about 8 seasons was kept alive with a resounding 4-2 win over hot on their heels and 3rd on log table, Aberdeen on Wednesday evening, goals from Alfredo Morelos, James Tavernier and substitute, Jermain Defoe secured Gerrard-led Rangers’ 4th win in a row.

The matchup between these 2 clubs had always been feisty, in fact, the last 2-league meetings had produced 3 red cards, 1 for Aberdeen’s Sam Cosgrove and 2 for Alfredo Morelos, seems Morelos have a personal vendetta against Aberdeen. Also, the last 3 meetings had seen Rangers dominated proceedings but were undone twice by a 1-nil scoreline and the 3rd match ended in a draw.

There had been much debate whether Rangers coach Steven Gerrard should stick to his 4-3-3 that has brought him an instant success at Ibrox or deploy a traditional 4-4-2 formation to accommodate new loan signing, Jermain Defoe and in-form striker, Alfredo Morelos. Both players were used in a 4-4-2 formation against Kilmarnock some 4 matches ago, but ended up losing 1-2, Gerrard quickly debunked the notion that the loss was due to change of tactics and formation, he resorted back to the preferred 4-3-3 and Rangers had gone on to win 4 in a row including this win over Aberdeen.

Key Moments: Aberdeen 2-4 Rangers,

It was an entertaining end-to-end matchup that contained everything a match has to offer, Goals, Spot-kicks, Cautions and Dismissals;

20′ ; It was Rangers who lit up the stadium in the 20th minute, when Liverpool loanee and in-form Rangers forward, Ryan Kent made a run into the box and then fired a shot at Joe Lewis in Aberdeen goal, the goalkeeper could only parry the ball unto the path of Morelos who duly obliged and scored.

31′ ; Aberdeen would not go down without a fight on home turf, just 11 minutes after they conceded, Aberdeen responded with an equalizer through the Scottish league top scorer, Sam Cosgrove. Almost a replica of Rangers goal, Aberdeen’s Lewis Ferguson well-connected volley ricocheted off Rangers’ players and fell unto the path of Cosgrove, who side-footed into the net.

38′ ; Rangers really meant business and regained the lead, once again, it was Kent-Morelos combination, the lively forward was a constant menace to the Aberdeen defence, and his pass picked out Morelos who left-footed into the bottom corner.

43′ ; Rangers steered clear with the 3rd goal, another penalty in their favour, making it the 4th spot-kicks in last 2 league matches ( scored 3 spot- kicks in their 4-0 victory over St Mirren). James Tavernier initial free-kick was handled in the box by Aberdeen’s Scott McKenna, Rangers’ captain duly scored his 3rd from 12 yards in last 2 games.

47′ ; The 2nd half barely started when Aberdeen pulled 1 more goal back, Sam Cosgrove drew a foul from Rangers captain, Tavernier and the referee pointed to the spot, Cosgrove dusted himself up to tuck away the spot-kick to make the scoreline 2-3.

55′ ; Alfredo Morelos found himself in the bad book again, the Colombian, just like his 2 previous matches against Aberdeen, was sent off after involving in a tangle with Aberdeen’s James McKenna, the referee, Bobby Madden also sent off McKenna for violent play.

90+4′ ; With both teams playing with 10 men, it was all Aberdeen trying to find the equalizer, they threw bodies forward and left themselves open at the back and were duly put to sword by Rangers, a quick break-away saw substitute, Jermain Defoe unmarked at the far end, and he smartly fired home the 4th for Rangers.

Rangers still sit in 2nd place on the Scottish Premier League, 6 points adrift of log leader, Celtic, but are now 5-point clear of their rival, Aberdeen in 3rd place.

Steven Gerrard has not even completed a season as Rangers manager yet, but he is already making a name for himself not just at Ibrox but in the league at large. If he can upstage Celtic to the league title remains to be seen, that will be one headliner if he does.

+32,000 Career Points For LeBron, But Not The Result He’d Hoped For.

LeBron James became only the 5th player in the history of the NBA to score +32,000 (32,008) points after scoring 18 points in Wednesdays match up with the Indiana Pacers, sadly, LeBron ended up on the losing end after the LA Lakers went down 94-136 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse Arena, home of the Pacers. LeBron now suffered the worst defeat of his illustrious NBA career, having not previously lost by more than 36 points to any team, the defeat condemned Lakers to another back-to-back lost in this calendar year having lost 101-115 to the Golden State Warriors on Sunday.

LeBron James returned to the lineup after been rested in the loss against the Warriors, but he could do little as the Lakers back-and-forth season continues with the 27th defeat of the regular season, winning 27 and sit 10th on the Western Conference log table.

Indiana Pacers were on a run of 4-straight defeats before they rallied with a back-to-back wins, the losses respectively includes ; a 103-106 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies, a 100-132 loss to the Golden State Warriors, a 87-107 loss against the Washington Wizards and then a 100-107 defeat at the hands of the Orlando Magic, but they snapped out of those defeats with a hard-fought 95-88 win over the Miami Heat and another narrow 109-107 win over the New Orleans Pelicans, what a recovery they have now, with the 3rd straight win over Lakers.

Despite not been at his usual ruthlessness, having recently returned from a groin injury, LeBron still led his teammates in points (18), rebounds (7), and assist (9), but the overall performance of the Lakers was abysmal, Lakers only scored 4 3-pointers all game compared to Pacers 19 3-pointers. It was all Pacers from the start to finish, the Lakers could not even win a quarter of the 4 quarters. Lakers had 5 players in double figures, the closest to LeBron’s points was JaVale McGee who played just 15 minutes and scored 16 points, 4 rebounds with no assist, followed by Lance Stephenson with 13 points, a rebound and 2 assists, Brando Ingram and Kyle Kuzma had 12 points each, Ingram with 6 rebounds and an assist, and Kuzma with a rebound, no assist, Lakers seem ordinary without a fully fit LeBron.

Indiana Pacers on their path did the needful, they successfully limited LeBron’s influence on the game, Pacers outscored the Lakers in all quarters, by the time it was half time, Pacers had opened up a 23-points gap, with a score of 69-46 points. The onslaught continued in the 2nd half, as the Pacers ensured that the day belongs to them and not LeBron with a full-time score of 136-94. 7 players were on double figure for the Pacers, led by Bojan Bogdanovic’s game-high 24 points, a rebound and 5 assist, he was closely followed by teammate, Myles Turner with 22 points and a rebound, Domantas Sabonis had 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists, Aaron Holiday and Edmond Summer also had 17 points, Holiday with a rebound and 3 assists, while Summer had 2 rebounds, other players are Cory Joseph, who had 13 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists and Thaddeus Young who also had a decent 21-minute game and scored 12 points, game-high 11 rebound and 8 assists, a remarkable display by the Indiana Pacers.

Brando Ingram, Kyle Kuzma and others need to come to the party and support LeBron James if Lakers really want to be a force to reckon with, no wonder the widely speculated news of LeBron pushing for a Lakers’ trade for New Orleans Pelicans star, Anthony Davis.

It was indeed a milestone achievement for the King, LeBron James, but one he will remember for the good and ugly.

Toad in The Hole – Good Food on a Budget

Toad In The Hole – Frugal Living & Delicious Food on a Budget

We’ve been living the #frugal #life for the past year now, after deciding that we were spending far too much of our hard earned cash on overly expensive food, from rip off supermarkets and local shops.

I love to cook, and am the head-chef in our house as well as doing the weekly ‘Friday Big Shop’ at Aldi. I work full time at a Special Educational Needs school during the week, and rarely get a chance to muster something yummy up of an evening, but I always cook for my little family on a Sunday.

Our newest family members – Dorothy and Annie – They free range and produce the best eggs!

A firm favourite that I cook (as voted for by my better half and kids) is the good ole’ British favourite

‘Toad In The Hole’

Now, to my non-British cousins here, this meal possibly sounds like a weird dish that ‘The Twits’ would make!

But rest assured, it’s a delicious and belly-filling experience that you need to try. Made with ‘Yorkshire pudding batter mix and the best free range quality sausages, this really is a wonderful Autumn into (dare I say it) Winter warmer.

You can also use vegetarian sausages if you’re a veggie too!
There’s even a Vegan recipe too, which will please my besty @d-vine and other vegans reading this, which you can find here on the VeganPunks Web page

Here’s the ingredients and method of my recipe for you to try. There are loads of recipes online, but I’ve adapted my own and it works a treat every time! so trust me folks!

Cost breakdown – In GBP ££
All Ingredients are from the supermarket Aldi

8 Cumberland Sausages (72% pork) – £1.39
Plain Flour – 45p 2kg (bulk buy which lasts for weeks)
6 Large Free range Eggs – Free from Dorothy and Annie
Olive Oil – 1l – £2.29
Semi-Skimmed Milk 6 pint – £1.48 (best to buy a large jug for our family)
Salt and Pepper – £1.00 together

Preparation time -30 mins to 1 hour
Cooking time – 30 mins to 1 hour
Serves – 2 children & 2 Adults

Preheat your oven to 200C/400F/Gas 6.
The hotter the better, which will really help that batter rise!

You will need this equipment

A rectangular glass oven dish (I find that the batter doesn’t stick as much with these)
Weighing scales
Measuring Jug with ml/fl oz
Preheated oven at 200c/400f (Moderatley hot)
4 eggs
140g/5oz – Plain flour
200ml/7fl oz – Semi- skimmed milk
1 pinch of – Salt and Ground black pepper
8 good quality – Pork sausages
3 tbsp – Olive oil
pinch of dried mixed herbs and onions

Here’s how to make the batter

Sift the plain flour into a large mixing bowl, then add the salt and pepper for seasoning.
Make a well in the centre of the flour and crack in the eggs. Using a wooden spoon, gradually beat the eggs into the flour then slowly beat in the milk until the batter is the consistency of double cream.

Stir in the mixed herbs, cover and leave to stand for 30 minutes.
Place the sauasages in the dish, drizzle with olive oil and pop into the preheated oven for 10 minutes.
I like to prick holes in them to let the fat out, this will help with the non-sticking process.
Pour the batter over the hot sausages in the oven dish and Immediately return to the oven and cook for 35-40 minutes or until well-risen and golden-brown.

I like serve it with different veg each week so today I chose some delicious new potatoes and garden peas, with thick good ole’ Bisto Best gravy!
I also like some hot English mustard on the side for the sausages, and mint sauce on the peas.

Straight from the oven!

The aromas are mouth watering and incredibly inviting…I bet you wish you had smellavision!

I hope you enjoyed my cooking blog post, and that you’re now rushing off to the kitchen to cook up this classic ‘Great British’ favourite! Happy cooking and eating folks, and please post your pictures in the comments section if you managed to re-create this dish!

Corporate and Government Blockchain Use | Is it Really Being Used? If So, Why?

Government Blockchain Use

In the past few years, the public perception of blockchain has shifted from being an esoteric, little-understood technology to nothing short of a revolution that may define the future of the internet. We have been seeing massive venture capital being pumped into blockchain startups for a while now and blockchain based startups are now finding footing even in Asia and in emerging economies across the world.

Research shows that blockchain and blockchain startups globally received around $1.3 billion in investment capital in 2018 (since May). However, blockchain now brings with it a “fear of missing out” and everyone from tech giants to Fortune 500 companies to country and state governments want to be seen as adopting blockchain technology in a big way. Let’s talk about how major companies and governments are implementing blockchain solutions and whether it will lead to a long-term technology transformation for these institutions.

How Major Companies and Governments are Adopting Blockchain Technology

Corporations are starting to wake up to the need to invest in blockchain. It’s expected that corporate spending on blockchain software will reach $2.1 billion in 2018, up from $945 million in 2017.

One of the major uses of blockchain technology is bringing down the costs of international payments and money transfers by replacing a third party intermediary with a decentralized, trustless system. It’s no wonder that Visa wants to get ahead in the blockchain game and use the new technology to change its business model and retain market leadership.

Visa has filed as many as 17 blockchain patents. One of its important patents (patent number 20170237554A) describes the foundation of a fast and secure way to store and transfer digital assets of substantial value. In December 2017, Visa launched its B2B Connect platform based on this patent. This platform aims to reduce the friction and high cost of high-value international transactions. It is currently in its testing phase. Visa clearly takes the potential of blockchain technology and its future very seriously and the hype around its blockchain strategy is backed by substance.

Walmart’s “Farm to Fork” blockchain project, launched in 2017, is a system that will help Walmart determine where the bad food came from once a product is recalled. This is expected to massively improve food safety standards, reduce food consumption related diseases, and reduce costs of waste.

Walmart now uses this blockchain to maintain the supply chain ledger for 30 products. The process is simpler and more secure than the barcodes, scanners, paper forms, and individual databases Walmart usually uses. For every 1% reduction in food-borne diseases in the United States, that’s a saving to the U.S. economy of about $700 million,” said Frank Yiannas, head of food safety at Walmart. The blockchain system takes 2.2 seconds to trace the origin of sliced mangoes, verses 6 plus days using other systems.

Air France

Air France started examining the possibility of applying blockchain technology to optimize aircraft maintenance workflows in 2017. It believes that the main advantages of blockchain – resilience, traceability, integrity, and disintermediation – are well suited to the aviation supply chain.

However, when it comes to making a complete switch to blockchain based systems, Air France has a major obstacle in the way. Most airline data is still maintained on paper, so Air France will first have to move towards digitization of data before it can implement a blockchain system with any kind of efficacy.

Estonian Government

The Estonian government has been one of the pioneers of blockchain implementation, starting as early as 2008 before the term blockchain was even coined. The E-Estonia program uses blockchain to integrate all Government services on one platform. The blockchain ledger protects sensitive data from the healthcare, judiciary, legislature, security, and commercial code registries from corruption and misuse.

They have also developed a blockchain-based security system called KSI which can function even under constant cyber attack. Estonia is a prime example of a proactive government that has persevered with blockchain implementation for a long time.

State of Delaware

The state of Delaware launched the Delaware Blockchain Initiative in 2016 which enables a more efficient governance structure for the 30,000 companies that are incorporated in the State. The government hopes that this will give the state a competitive edge and encourage more companies to be incorporated in Delaware.

However, the state has been slow to implement the initiative. This could be (at least partly) because the initiative would make agencies who make their living from company filings redundant. The government may be hesitant to implement this disruptive technology due to the potential job losses it could cause.

The European Union

Counterfeiting costs the European Union almost €60 billion every year. The EU Intellectual Property Office and the European Commission are working on a blockchain based solution to combat counterfeiting.

They are now in negotiations with a private company that can create blockchain based working products to deal with counterfeiting. It remains to be seen what the final solution will look like and how effectively it will deal with widespread counterfeiting of products all over the EU.

Blockchain Implementation by Corporates and Governments – Reality or Hype?

The major rush to announce blockchain projects to the media and jump on the blockchain bandwagon that was seen in the past two years has now cooled off significantly. According to Forrester Research Inc, a number of blockchain projects will be wound down this year, and many companies are scaling back on blockchain pilots that they were pushing aggressively just last year.

In 90% of the cases, blockchain experiments never become incorporated in the operations of the company. A survey of CIOs by Gartner Inc said that only 1% of them were implementing blockchain projects in their companies while 80% of CIOs said they had no interest in the technology. Other studies have shown different results, but similar sentiment… a majority of corporations surveyed say they don’t plan on using blockchain technology.

A major reason for this disconnect between hype and reality is that most companies had thought that it would be easy to find use cases for their blockchain projects. They are now realizing that introducing blockchain requires broad collaboration with many industry participants and scalable implementation could take 5 to 10 years instead of the 2 to 3-year horizon that had been expected.

The Future of Blockchain Implementation in Governments and Large Companies

While blockchain implementation among corporates and governments has seen a bit of caution throughout 2018, it seems to be a natural course correction after the exuberance and hype of the past couple of years.

Big tech players like IBM and Microsoft continue to invest heavily in blockchain software and have captured over 51% of the $700 million market for blockchain products. While there has been a tempering of enthusiasm when it comes to implementation of blockchain, and many companies are still testing the waters, it is widely believed by blockchain backers that there will be an upswing in blockchain projects next year and that the optimism of governments and companies will definitely return in good measure.

One Thing I Don’t Like Is Being Reprimanded

I may not have used the right word, but this blog post talks about how instantly reprimanding me, punishing me etc and not tell me what I did wrong or not giving a chance to explain doesn’t help. And I named 2 cases where instantly coming down on me didn’t help.

Link to the blog post can be found here

Fill free to share the video with a friend. Anybody really. Sometimes, you need a different approach.

The Thrill Has Gone – By Darren Claxton – BB King

The Thrill Has Gone – By Darren Claxton – BB King

snap (13)

Here’s my rendition of this classic track by BB KING.
He was one of my biggest influences musically and I still love listening to his old recordings.
I recorded it the day BB died – May 14, 2015.

Riley B. King (September 16, 1925 – May 14, 2015), known professionally as B.B. King, was an American blues singer, electric guitarist, songwriter, and record producer. King introduced a sophisticated style of soloing based on fluid string bending and shimmering vibrato that influenced many later electric blues guitarists.

Thanks for listening!

Inside Your Soul

Inside Your Soul

Inside Your Soul was written at the height of my breakdown, depression and anxiety back in 2013/14.
It stayed on the pages in my book of stories (Lyric book) and never emerged until earlier this year.
There are many songs in that book that still need to see the light of day, but I’ll hopefully get round to recording as my Whaleshares, Steemit, and Choon Journey continues.
I hope you find some enlightenment, and can somehow find a connection to this song of mine. Please do remember, someone is always ready to listen and help, so please don’t suffer in silence if you’re experiencing mental health issues! YOU’RE NOT ALONE!

Won’t you fight to survive
won’t you survive to fight
won’t you live for life will you give
decide, decide

Heartbroken promises
inside your soul
where were you my friend
when I needed you most

Safe and sound, tonight
warm inside and out
find the fear, without, without
calm and still for now, for now

Heartbroken promises
inside your soul
where were you my friend
when I needed you most

Heartbroken promises
inside your soul
where were you my friend
when I needed you most

Won’t you fight to survive
won’t you survive to fight

Darren Claxton is a Songwriter, Musician and Producer of his own music, from Derbyshire UK. The music he writes is often heartfelt acoustic indie folk with a sprinkling of rock and country influences, with an occasional world music flavour as heard on his track ‘Dragonfly’ . But most of all, it’s his passive emotive thoughts and feelings that are delivered through that soothing vocal, and intricate guitar playing of his, as heard on INSIDE YOUR SOUL.

Respect Truth Inside of You

What is the truth in the life sometimes ( and most of the time) is not pleasant, fair or flattering? In some moments it is even outrageous.

? Now, why is that? It is not about the truth, it is the recipient – we have scruples, expectations, dreams, ego… You name it. We deserve better, more, everything…
It is normal. Nature programmed us so that we survive and not extinct on some level. We would be long gone as a species if we didn’t have that primal need to HAVE.

? You don’t feed your children with the empty hands. You have to HAVE. The food, clothes, shelter, medical care, education, investments, savings… It all costs, time and effort. But, you have to have it and you will work for that.

? But, there is a limit and most of us know all about it. People who don’t realize that they are crossing the signaling red line usually spend their lives in the misery and anxiety. They are not happy and spend endless nights doing nothing but staring into the dark future designed by a culprit called a human mind.

? People are afraid of the death, change, and judgment. The ones who are not are truly free. The ones who went to an extreme, stay locked inside. There is no bigger prison or the harsher punishment but to be locked into your own mind. A life becomes a nightmare from which you can’t wake up.

? So, instead of trying to snap out they live their life for the others or to fulfill the social expectations. They work as the horses, for nothing else to buy the things they don’t need. They even mock the emotions, because everything inside is a void stripped of any expression. They neglect their friends and decide to resolve themselves of the possibility to be happy…

? Do you really want to live that life…?

Love, joy and perpetual happiness to all good people. Thank you for visiting my blog

Diversifying my interest or spreading too thin

Being a part of many websites is always challenging and the biggest problem is not to spread too thin.

Others told me it is not, but others are probably less needed than me around my place. They can easily spend an entire day writing, playing and doing whatever for no one to ask them anything.
I would say that time schedule is the biggest issue here because I have to decide where to be and how much time to spend on a certain assignment.

There is also one problem, and that is that my family kind of doesn’t get that this is a job, they never did, so instead of doing it in the peace, I have to constantly argue and explain. In the last few months, I am literary in the rollercoaster of a constant debate, nagging and annoyance. They are supportive and all that, but when they need something they don’t care.

I could succumb to their demands, personal needs and just give up on all of this, but seriously, why should I?

I listed all the websites I am on currently in my footer. I could say a few things about an each just to share some opinion about them.

Social websites

? Twitter | The advertising social network, it is good as it is bad. I am using it and just recently I purged all following to start reading people I am interested in.
? Reddit | I am not really active there, but for my personal blog it could be good to start something there.
? Youtube | I am planning about this and have new materials.
? Github | in migration…
? Discord | Currently making a new server…
? Telegram | Nice communication tool.
? Medium | Nothing, this platform is dormant for me.
? Quora | Beside surfing, I did almost nothing. The page is solid and offers a lot of info.

Crypto websites

? Steemit | Daily blogging platform, but with 3 accounts in a toll and a few borrowed I still make zero to nothing. Still, I am hoping to see better days in here.
? Whaleshares | This is my new island. I am here to stay.
? Scorum | I have no idea what I am doing there. I will try but can’t promise much.
? Weku | So far so good, we are waiting for the market value…
? Minds | Value for 1k view is kind of low, maybe it improves with the time.
? Stish.Io | I visit this time from time.
? Trybe | I have a profile and still did not post anything, in the next few days I will.
? Smoke.Io | Sidedish to Whaleshares. I started to write.

When I look all of this I think I should keep Twitter, Reddit, Youtube and my blog ( either Hub or Labs), and work on webs until I can precisely estimate which one is the best for me.
I intend to put more muscle into the Whaleshares, socialize on Weku, do slowly the rest and continue Steemit as it is.

Love, joy and perpetual happiness to all good people. Thank you for visiting my blog

Delicate Calls – Original Music by Darren Claxton

Click on the picture to hear the track

Delicate Calls is an ambient soundtrack of unknown genre. It has elements of Massive Attack and Portishead with that Trip-Hop kind of vibe. It was written as I improvised the String parts on my vintage Yamaha SY 88 synth. There were only 5 tracks used in total, the drums were a loop that I made using the inbuilt touch sensitive pads, on my Porta-Studio. Tambourine and Darbuka drum were played using real instruments. My vocal was captured using 1 stereo track. Very little mastering has been done to the track so it stands untouched so far. I think it has a really eerie, soundtrack vibe to it that wouldn’t be out of place in a movie scene.

Delicate calls from the fable
wandering minds are calling still
rescued my bones
get what you paid for
turning me up, inside and out

Selling your soul to be accepted
racing around to go without
wasting a day with thoughts a plenty
hearing a call but there’s no sound

So deserves the day
fears have gone away
taking back the need for options
did you find the time
believe you’re sound of mind
release the conversation flavours.

As much as I love music and creating songs, I’m firstly, a proud father with a beautiful family. I have one of each brand, with their own unique quirkiness and personality. My eldest and most favourite son is 8 years old, very academic and a very well rounded soul, just like his mum. My youngest and most favourite daughter is full of life, bossy, a diva, extremely assertive and hilariously funny! Possibly just like me. So, I’d like to share some of my thoughts of family life and the most important things we can do to strengthen our bond with our children…Spending time with them.

At home in the garden – summer 2018

We love our families and spend so much effort trying to make money to provide them with a comfortable lifestyle — but sometimes we forget that giving our kids our time is more important than providing them with cool clothes or the latest technology trends. Even for older kids — who you’d be pretty hard-pressed to get to admit that they want more attention from their parents and siblings — a good solid family unit can have serious benefits.

Conkers, Summer 2018

  • It builds self-esteem in children
Children who spend time with their parents participating in activities together build a positive sense of self-worth. When children feel that they are valued by their parents, they feel more positive about themselves. Family activities don’t have to be expensive or luxurious to be meaningful. Take a walk together, go for a bike ride or play a game of basketball in the driveway. The important part is just being together and enjoying each other’s company.
  • It strengthens family bonds
Families who share everyday activities together as well as share vacations or daily excursions as a group form strong, emotional ties. Studies have found that families who enjoy group activities together share a stronger emotional bond as well as an ability to adapt well to situations as a family. Share your favorite hobbies, sports, books, movies or other activities and build strong family ties for lifeChildren and adolescents who spend more time with their parents are less likely to experiment with substances like cigarettes, alcohol and tobacco, nearly twice as likely to use alcohol and one and a half times more likely to use marijuana.Kids who frequently eat with their families also usually have improved dietary intake compared to those who don’t eat as often with family members.

Christmas Day Socks.

  • It creates happy memories
Family time creates warm memories for parents and children alike. Children with happy family memories are more likely to create a loving environment for their own children when they grow up. Learning to work and play as a family unit is one of the best lessons children can be taught so they can develop into competent adults and parents.

Flamborough Head – North Yorkshire

  • It helps parents and children reconnect
Spending time together as a family helps busy parents reconnect with their children. Children tend to share more information about their lives while enjoying an activity with you rather than when you ask them “What did you do today?” It is also a time when life lessons, like sharing, fairness and compassion, can be reinforced without conflict. Children grow and change quickly, so family time is a wonderful time to get to know your child better.

Thanks for reading this post.

The Tale

‘The Tale’ is a story about a retired and burnt out musician that finds himself back in the norm. he slowly fades back into life and reminisces about his time on the road. It’s a sad fact that this will happen to possibly 99% of successful musicians on the planet. I’m no statistician, but that’s probably not a bad estimate. I hope you enjoy this acoustic laid back song.

The wanderer returned
with a gleam in his eyes
of things he’d seen
and passed him by
oh they passed him by
passed him by

The shadows seen
of one’s who’ve been
in topflight, fade into life
fade into life, oh they fade back into life
fade into life, into life

Well I know I’ve seen it before
my friend, my friend oh my friend
you know I’ve seen it before
my friend my friend
my friend my friend
passed him by

Thanks for everyone’s continues support for me and my music! It really is so appreciated!

BBC Introducing – ‘Breathe’ by Darren Claxton

Breathe – Original Music by Darren Claxton

Hello Stishers and welcome to my song ‘Breathe’The real beauty of being a singer-songwriter and musician is that, you get to do whatever you like with the songs you create.

You can also here the studio version on Choon

BREATHE is a rather simplistic little song but also very intricate in its make up. What inspired me to write this? well, I was thinking (I do a lot of that) about all the stupid mistakes that I’ve made in life, and wouldn’t want my children to do or follow in my footsteps.

Breathe the air I give to you
just don’t give it back
sing the song I wrote for you
just don’t sing it back
Walk the footsteps that I make
just don’t follow me
take a ride upon a wing
but don’t look down on me

Thanks for listening to, supporting and commenting on my music posts!

Thorny Waves – Brand New Music by Darren Claxton

Danes Dyke – Flamborough, Yorkshire UK

Thorny Waves

Here’s a demo of my new song ‘Thorny Waves’ that I wrote earlier this week!
I’ve been in full-time Daddy Day Care mode these past 6 weeks which has been so much fun, but also completely knackering!
There’s always a song inside my head and heart, and this is one that’s managed to find it’s way out of my body and onto the trusty Zoom Porta-Studio. It’s funny because I’ve been busting my balls on Steemit to save for some new up to date recording equipment, but the truth of the matter is, I still wouldn’t get time to use it as I have this really annoying thing called A DAY JOB which starts again next Tuesday!

Bring on the day when I can be a house-dad and make music while the kids are at school, and my good lady can push her little craft business forward!
Anyway, as always, I digress! This new song of mine could be better mixed and produced but, it will just have to suffice because, as much as I adore music, my family are top priority and they won’t be at home forever!

Sail away the thorny waves
and comfort me today
riding on the sea of dreams
and waving once I’m free

Travel to a time before
you always seemed to be
happiness was once forgot
and wasted all on me

We talked about hard times
and wondered why we change
floating in and out
thoughts surround our doubts

When you find the one to love
keep them closely by
precious moments that you share
on a wing to fly

We talked about hard times
and wondered why we change
floating in and out
thoughts surround our doubts

Sail away the thorny waves
and comfort me today
riding on the sea of dreams
and waving once I’m free

We talked about hard times
and wondered why we change
floating in and out
thoughts surround our doubts

Thanks to everyone that has supported me and my musical dream since joining here in January!

? Urban Sketchers Medellín #7 ? ? – Punto Clave (Av. Industriales – Av. Las Vegas)

Hello there friends!!! ?

This is my seventh post about the Urban Sketchers of Medellín, this time we went to draw at The Punto Clave Mall, Like two weeks ago my cell phone got it’s screen damaged probably because of pressure by a pointy object while commuting back home…, I already wanted to buy a new one for a while but was waiting for having more money…but well Fortuna has her ways of doing things hehe so I had my phone broken before time, I could receive calls as the touchscreen was intact allowing me to slide and answer…only that the display was completely distorted making it effectively impossible to navigate the OS for other functions.

So I decided to buy a “new” used cellphone with better specs, with a decent camera that could allow me to take quality photos of my drawings and save on paying for getting them scanned but that also wouldn’t cripple me financially hehe. So I found this Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime from last year that looked like new and told the seller to meet that same day at Punto Clave but half hour earlier than USK drawing session, that way I would kill two birds with a single stone haha, made me feel smart ? lol…
However the seller didn’t show up at time but way later while I was drawing already.

Since the seller didn’t arrive on time I was already assuming I wouldn’t buy the phone that day so decided to forget about that and enjoy drawing there, I picked my spot on a pedestrian bridge that connects the metro station of Industriales with the Mall, crossing over the Avenue bellow, for me this offered a great challenge and opportunity for capturing this great perspective of the avenue and the Bancolombia buildings.

Well there is nothing much to add, I just stood there under the sun without a shade for almost two hours while drawing, just because it was the best view.. hehe sometimes those little sacrifices have to be done in the name of Art lol ?, but for me it was well worth it, besides I got tanned a bit ?.

To wrap up the story, the seller showed up almost around 16:30, luckily I heard my phone ringing on all that noise from cars passing and loud music on the street, so I stopped drawing and went to meet him at the mall, checked everything about the phone making sure I was going to get a good product and it passed all my tests hehe. So I agreed to buy it and I’m enjoying my purchase hehe…then quickly I returned to where the USKers were but it was almost already time for gathering and show our drawings of the day, I had already my drawing mostly done but the colour was still missing so I started apply the watercolour and just finished in time for the groupal photos but missed the one of the drawings hehe

That was all for that day, it was a good one, got to make a really nice drawing, drank beer with friends afterwards and we went to enjoy the evening at a park nearby .

Here is the photo of the Urban Sketchers group from that day ?

? Urban Sketchers Medellín #6 ? ? – Parques del Rio

Hello there friends!!! ?

This is my sixth post about the Urban Sketchers of Medellín, this time we went to draw at Medellin River Parks, I arrived late, we were supposed to meet at 14:30, but I got there almost at 16:00 because I had just arrived that same morning from my trip at Jardín (still have pending the post from that one hehe) and was really tired so took a nap that afternoon waking up at around 15:00 and it took me almost an hour to get to the Parks…, anyway once I got there and found the group, I chatted a bit with some fellow sketchers and then went to find my spot for drawing.

I decided to draw for this session a very particular building which has a great view from the park, EPM Building, which looks very much like a modern fortress and for a reason, it stores inside a lot of important data from the city.

Something I haven’t mentioned is that this session was a very special one, because it not only was the usual meet up of sketchers to draw some part of the city but it also was for doing a collaboration with another artistic group called Conquistarte. The collab was about painting over some umbrellas what we do best, cityscapes and buildings, so the most skilled painters of our group joined the Conquistarte ones and started painting the umbrellas, see pics bellows ?.

What an excellent Sunday ?At the end of the day we all gathered together and did an evening picnic at the park ??, I supplied most of the snacks ? as I had a lot of “left overs” from my trip to which I brought too much food, good thing it didn’t go to waste and had chance to share with friends in a very beautiful park.

? Urban Sketchers Medellín #5 ? ? – Unidad Deportiva Maria Luisa Calle

Hello there friends!!! ?

This is my fifth post about the Urban Sketchers of Medellín, this time we went to draw at Sport Centre Maria Luisa Calle, it was really awesome specially because that same day there was Literature Festival with many events and stands to see, so we stayed until late night.

This time I went to draw the view from the grandstands of the sport centre, I know again a city scape with mountains in the back but this time I used watercolour!!! it was really fun, one of my new friends I from Medellín, ? gifted me her brush pen with a water tube in the back so you can pick the dry pigments directly or in my case apply Aquarelle Crayons over the paper and then pass over the brush to spread the colour.

BTW her Birthday was on Monday, two days ago, so I gifted her a drawing of her, coloured with the brush pen she had gifted me two days before ?

Expat Focus Interview

A while back, I was interviewed by Expat Focus, an online magazine for “Anyone Moving or Living Abroad.” That published interview follows:

Randy – Retired in Samar

Randy Landis

Who are you?

My name is Randy and I was born and raised in Illinios but, our family roots have long since been transplanted in Texas. I spent over 20 years with the U.S. Navy, some time thereafter with the National Weather Service, and eventually wound up my second career as a real estate broker. My wife and I lived and worked our last 20 years while residing in Tupelo, Mississippi. I retired to the Philiippines at the age of 58.

Where, when and why did you move abroad?

We settled in Western Samar, the home of my wife’s relatives. Because of the economic climate in the U.S. at the time, we made the decision to close our two businesses, sell the house and our vehicles, liquidate all the stuff we didn’t want, and moved to the Philippines in July of 2013.

What challenges did you face during the move?

The biggest challenge was detaching ourselves from all the “stuff” we had accumulated in the last 30 years. We eventually decided to keep our furniture and all sentimental things, and liquidate everything else. That which we kept we shipped to our new home in two containers. One other challenge was bringing our two loving pets and the documentation process that was required. Travelling half way around the world with two felines is not an easy chore but, it was worth it in the end. One thing we managed to accomplish before we made our move was to get a good start on building a home here. We purchased property here several years before and over time, did our construction in managed stages. Once we arrived, all we had to do was finish up in time for our household goods shipment. 6 weeks after arriving, we moved in.

Are there many other expats in your area?

Yes, there are expats from the US, UK, Australia, along with some from several European locations.

What do you like about life where you are?

Although we did choose to settle here because of family, Samar turned out to be a good choice. It’s provincial, with a slower pace of life, lower cost of living, no traffic issues, little crime, and very friendly people. We have a nice home on a large lot with all the amenities possible (especially air conditioning). Samar also offers uncrowded beaches and an abundance of natural beauty you will not find on some other islands or in the larger metropolitan areas. Now that we have arrived, a new mall and major grocery chain is building here.

What do you dislike about your expat life?

Generally speaking, life is good. Communicating can be a real challenge as English is not widely spoken among the majority crowd here. Sanitation and environmental neglect is always a concern that requires turing a blind eye to most times. Overall, my biggest issue here are the inconveniences brought on by untimely power interruptions and the generally poor internet service.

What is the biggest cultural difference you have experienced between your new country and life back home?

The biggest difference has to be food variety. My menu liking is quite expansive so I don’t have a big problem with food choices, but I’d be remiss if I didn’t say I miss a good steak, pizza, cheeseburger, or some good Mexican food at times. My wife has learned to do very well with the availabiliity of ingredients and has learned to do some hybrid cooking.

One of the more obvious differences here is the loss of space and privacy as families tend to live in much smaller houses and under more cramped conditions. This leads to an under appreciation of overall privacy issues with the population (they do not understand the concept of privacy). Living in a non-secular and predominately christian society has its advantages also as everybody seems to be living on the same wavelength, much unlike where we came from.

What advice would you give to anyone following in your footsteps?

Simply, I will say this. Know what you want, where you want to go, and what you are jumping into. Take your time, and never get in a big hurry to get where you are going. If you have never lived or visited extensively to the area where you plan to settle, then “Research” and “Plan” should be the two most prevalent words in your vocabulary. And if you have never been there, visit often before you make the move. Also, anybody moving to the Philippines should be aware that they will be hard pressed to make a living here so arriving with an established income is real necessity. Did I mention having a plan? My Blog documents much of our personal planning, decision making, and the actual moving process that we encountered in making our move abroad.

What are your plans for the future?

Aside from relaxing, maintaining good health and growing older, our plans include some international travel and definitely some local island hopping to visit with other friends and relatives scattered about. I may be Retired in Samar, but that doesn’t mean I buried my bucket list.

Keep up to date with Randy’s adventures on his personal blog, Retired In Samar.

? Urban Sketchers Medellín #4 ? ? – Parque Boston

Hello there friends!!! ?

This is my fourth post about the Urban Sketchers of Medellín, this time we went to draw at Park Boston, near the city centre, although more than a park it’s like a town square but they call those here “parks”.

I decided to draw the statue at the square centre because it was like the most iconic thing I could see, and I found the pose of the human figure quite funny and curious hehe, this is the statue of an independence war hero called José María Cordova, not my intention to mock history but the statue pose made me remind of Freddie Mercury’s iconic image LOL.

Here is the photo of the Urban Sketchers group from that day ?

It was a very fun session ?

? Urban Sketchers Medellín #3 ? ? – Glorieta de Aguacatala

Hello Again!!! ?

This is my third go with the Urban Sketchers of Medellín, this time we went to draw at a roundabout near the metro station Aguacatala, in Colombian Spanish “Glorieta” is the name used for roundabouts, something I learned that day, cause in Venezuela we call them “Redoma”…Google maps uses a more neutral term “Rotonda”hehe.

That particular view I drew reminded me a lot my Caracas ?? hehe, in fact the following monday some of the group met again for hiking that hill near where I live called “Cerro las tres cruces” for another extra official drawing session and enjoy the non working Monday…and from there on top of the hill there is another view which looks very much like Caracas too.

Here is the photo of the Urban Sketchers group from last Saturday ?

This time there were a bunch more of us ?

And the few of us who went hiking on Monday

Those who know Caracas will see the resemblance of the landscape behind us…

The usual photo of all our drawings from Saturday

I know, not the best one, since we were bellow a bridge and it was already near 18:00 the light conditions weren’t the best…

And the one from Monday

I drew the horse ?

? Urban Sketchers Medellín #2 ? ? – Main Park of La Estrella

Hello Again!!! ?

This is my second go with the Urban Sketchers of Medellín, this time we went to the far South of Medellín’s Metropolitan area, a town called La Estrella, very nice I liked it there although the entire afternoon looked like it would rain, good thing it didn’t. This time I did pick carefully what I would draw and wandered for a while looking for the angle of the church that appealed me the most, finally I found a spot where to sit and began drawing ?

Here is the photo of the Urban Sketchers group that day ?

They’re very cool people, I befriended some of them this time ?

Oh and here is the usual photo of all our drawings from that day

I think these are not all of them but well, I didn’t take those photos hehe

I’m really liking this activity, you get to met cool people with similar interests ?

Here a google street view, roughly from the same angle I drew the church

? My first Urban Sketchers Medellín drawing ? ?

Hello!!! ?

Here I present you my very 1st drawing or “sketch” with the Urban Sketchers of Medellín, it was done in a part of city called Manila which is a small hill and has many hostels, restaurants and cafés, so there is a high number tourists there…I didn’t pick any specific place to draw…I just sat somewhere randomly and started to sketch whatever I had in front of me, I later learned that white house is a restaurant called Verdeo, their food looks really yummy haha.

Here is photo of the Urban Sketchers group that day

And the collection of all our drawings from the session

It was really fun and I’m looking forward to meet them again tomorrow saturday at a new place and see what cool drawings we do ?…

My Confusion – and My First SteemThat Post!

I tend to be a little slow in figuring things out. That’s what my wife says anyway. I have to remind her that until she can crawl up into my mind to see how things work, she has no idea (she might find a few cobwebs up in there though). I recently realized that posting on Steemit and using the #Steemthat tag will pump your post over to the Steemthat Community Feed (Social Portal), but it does not create a published post on the Steemthat site. You basically publish your post on SteemThat as a separate post just as you would on Steemit,, etc. But when you post on SteemThat, you earn SteemThat tokens!

You will notice on the main page menu bar, there is the label “Publish” that has two drop down items – 1) My Posts and 2) Publish on Steemit. This is where my confusion eminates from and is why I am posting this writing as my own experiment to see how the site actually handles this post from within. In the past, while SteemThat was evolving, I always thought that if I published on Steemit, it was automatically populated to the SteemThat platform. And it is – it is published on the Social Portal (Community Feed) as a shared event, but not as an original SteemThat post. In order to do that, your Steemit post needs to be tagged #stishit or #stishitshare.

Now, should you choose to earn some SteemThat tokens, simply visit the “My Posts” menu link and publish your post on SteemThat.

So here goes… and now if I head over into “My Posts,” I should find all this… I hope!

Vodafone and Nokia will Install 4G Network on The Moon by 2019

San Francisco – The moon will get a 4G mobile phone network next year, 50 years after the first NASA astronaut landed on the lunar surface, the Daily Mail reported on Tuesday, February 27, 2018.

Vodafone Germany, Nokia and Audi say they work together to support missions that allow rover (moonlight) to communicate with each other.

If it continues, it will also allow high definition live streaming of the Moon landscape to Earth. This is part of a project that aims to travel to the moon commercially.

Vodafone says it has appointed Nokia as its technology partner to develop a space-class network, which is a small piece of hardware weighing less than a bag of sugar.

The plan is to connect two Audi month rovers to the base station in the Autonomous Landing and Navigation Module (ALINA).

The 4G network will allow the Audi moon rover to transfer HD scientific and video data as they study the NASA Apollo 17 moon explorer used by the last astronaut to run on the Moon.

The researchers said the two rovers will also send HD images directly to Earth as they travel within 200 meters (656 feet) of the rover.

The companies are working with the Berlin-based PTScientists company on the project, with a scheduled launch in 2019 from Cape Canaveral with SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, Vodafone said.

“This project involves a radical innovative approach to the development of mobile network infrastructure,” said Vodafone German Chief Executive Hannes Ametsreiter.

An executive involved said the decision to build a 4G network, not a sophisticated 5G network, was taken because the next generation network was still in the testing and testing stages. This means it may not be stable enough to work from the lunar surface.

Development of Infrastructure Outside The Planet

PTScientists, a Berlin-based company, announced that the moon will have its own 4G network next year. This network was developed as part of Mission to the Moon, a project that aspires to land the first private mission on the moon.

“In order for humans to leave the earth, we need to develop infrastructure outside our home planet,” said Robert Bohme, CEO and founder of PTScientists.

To do so, PTScientists collaborated with Vodafone Germany and Audi to develop a tool called Ultra Compact Network.

Vodafone also announced that it has demonstrated Nokia as a technology partner to make the Ultra Compact Network small enough and no heavier than a kilogram. The plan, the network will be used to support communication between two Audi robots with the earth when exploring NASA’s Apollo17 moon vehicle.

This communication can be either high resolution video or data. When running smoothly, PTScientists predict that the project will be launched in 2019 along with SpaceX’s Falcon9 rocket. “With the Mission to the Moon, we have determined and tested the first element of the communication network on the moon,” Bohme said.

He continued, the interesting thing about this LTE solution is that it uses less power, and the less energy we use to send data, then we will have more opportunities to do science.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Threatens The Future of Humans?

Oxford – Technology experts call the future of the Earth is in the threat of artificial intelligence, where the risk of taking over nearly 10 percent of human activity within the next 50 years.

Launched from on Thursday (22/2/2018), a new report prepared by 26 leading experts painted a gruesome picture of the world in the next 10 years.

In the future, the utilization of artificial intelligence tends to empower all people, including ‘naughty’ governments, criminals, and terrorists, the report warns.

If people, including policy makers and researchers do not work together, then the threats can penetrate some of the most basic parts of human life.

The associated threats can come from drone attacks, to robots used to manipulate news agendas and electoral processes.

The Report on the Use of Dangerous Artificial Intelligence: Forecasting, Prevention, and Mitigation cite some of the worst possible threats that are hard to imagine.

The form of artificial intelligence that is most likely to threaten is the technology of synthetic speech-makers. This technology can be exploited in the making of hidden video propaganda by irresponsible elements.

Global Synergy is Required

The report on the threat of artificial intelligence has been compiled by experts from many of the world’s leading institutions.

By some of the intelligence agencies involved, the cross-related discussion meeting was the first in history.

Not only beneficial, the development of artificial intelligence also began to realize has some serious threats that damage the order of human life.

The report includes input from representatives of OpenAI, a research group founded by Elon Musk; Oxford University Humanitarian Institution; and the Center for Study of External Risk Studies at Cambridge University.

“Artificial intelligence is one of the determinants of the future, and this report has implied the worst possible in the next five to ten years,” said Dr. Sean O Heigeartaigh, scientist and executive director of the Center for External Risk Studies at Cambridge University.

According to Dr. Heigeartaigh, the related report suggests a broader approach that might help, such as how to design software and hardware to avoid hacking, to review relevant international laws and regulations, and so on.

Danger, Cyber Criminals Can Abuse Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Robot who is good at playing chess show ability in Consumer Electronic Show (CES) 2017 exhibition in Las Vegas, USA (8/1). This robot is equipped with artificial intelligence “intelligent vision system” that can work with precision.

The researchers assessed criminals can take advantage of the progress of artificial intelligence (AI, Artificial Intelligence).

Cyber criminals are thought to be able to exploit the technology to create hacking attacks, cause autonomous cars to crash, and convert unmanned aircraft into weapons.

This was stated in a study published Wednesday by 25 technicians and public policy researchers from Cambridge, Oxford and Yale Universities, along with military and security experts.

This study is considered to be a reminder of the possible potential abuses of artificial intelligence by “naughty” states, criminals and single criminals (lone-wolf attackers).

Researchers believe the misuse of artificial intelligence can pose an imminent threat in digital, physical and political security, with a highly efficient targeted large-scale attack.

“We all agree there are many positive applications of artificial intelligence, but there are loopholes in the literature regarding the issue of harmful use,” said researcher from Future of Human Institute Oxford, Miles Brundage.

Artificial intelligence is a technology that uses computers to perform tasks that usually require human intelligence, such as making decisions or recognizing text, speech, and visual images.

Artificial intelligence is regarded as a technology that can solve technical problems, but on the other hand also raises the debate over whether its automatic functioning can lead to widespread unemployment or other social change.

Compact Overcome Concerned Risk of Artificial Intelligence

Furthermore, the researchers also discussed the development of academic research on artificial intelligence security risks, and called on governments, technical experts, and policies, to collaborate on this issue.

They also detail the power of artificial intelligence to create images, text, and audio that can imitate the identity of others online, or can influence public opinion. The authoritarian regime is judged to use such technology.

The study also contains a number of recommendations including regulating artificial intelligence as a dual use technology, namely military and commercial.

In addition, the researchers also questioned whether academics and others should control what they publish or reveal new developments of artificial intelligence, until other experts in the field have the opportunity to learn and react to potential dangers they may encounter.

“Eventually we ended up with more statements than answers,” Brundage said.

The researchers speculate, artificial intelligence can be used to make fake audio and video public officials look very realistic for propaganda.

In the past year, pornographic videos “deepfake” appeared in the online realm that featured the faces of celebrities on different bodies.

“This happens in pornography rather than propaganda, but there is nothing in ‘deepfakes’ that can not be implemented for propaganda,” said Head of Policy OpenAI, Jack Clark.

OpenAI is a group founded by CEO Tesla Elon Musk and Silicon Valley investor Sam Altman, focusing on developing a friendly artificial intelligence that benefits humanity. Similarly, as quoted by Reuters on Thursday (22/2/2018).

Guadalupe Martinez, a 64-year-old retiree, said he was still surprised by the quake. However, this shock is much different from the shaking that occurred in Mexico in September 2017. “This time the earthquake shock was strong but not up and down,” he said.

If this Mountain erupts, the lives of 100 million people are Threatened

Iwo Jima Island is one of the largest volcanic locations in southern Japan

Iwo Jima Island is one of the largest volcanic locations in southern Japan

Kyushu – Research on a giant undersea submarine caldera near the islands in Japan found a surprising new finding about a lava dome containing eight trillion gallons of lava.

Launched from the Live Science page on Wednesday (14/2/2018), the volcano dome which is 50 kilometers south of Kyushu Island has a diameter of almost 10 kilometers, and height of more than 600 meters which is now solid rock.

The findings of the giant caldera are said to be related to the legend of the eruption of Mount Kikai, where it is said to be a super volcanic eruption that occurred between 6,000 and 7,000 years ago.

According to Yoshiyuki Tatsumi, a scientist who writes related reports on the journal Natural Scientific Report, the massive eruption caused pyroclastic flow, a rapid flow of hot gas, volcanic ash, and rocks.

The pyroclastic flow is called blowing up to 80 kilometers, and spreading volcanic ash up to a radius of 1,000 kilometers, across the sea to parts of East Asia.

The volcanic system is known to be active, and is at risk of triggering massive eruption activity in the modern era. If it erupts, this giant caldera will be a disaster for the 100 million people in Asia Pacific, especially those living in the Far East, such as Japan, the Korean Peninsula, and China.

Although not mentioned when exactly, the volcano under the age of more than 95,000 years was recorded several times issued steam and volcanic dust in the modern era, last occurred between 2013 and 2014 ago.

Signs of the Next Great Explosion

Moments after the asteroid hit Earth, the volcano began to erupt with unusual intensity and very strong.

Moments after the asteroid hit Earth, the volcano began to erupt with unusual intensity and very strong.

Related to the position of the caldera that is below sea level, it makes researchers have difficulty in monitoring the development activities. Tatsumi and his team decided to dive to map the caldera floor with sonar reflections.

In addition, a team of related researchers also fired small explosive charges around the caldera’s foot, in order to create a seismic effect to describe the underwater surface around the caldera.

The study also took several rock samples, with the aim of knowing the chemical content of the caldera area.

Related research proves that the volcanic dome, in fact formed from liquid lava manifold rhyolite – young liquid lava – which is estimated to amount to nearly 8 trillion gallons in number.

“The post-caldera activity seen on this undersea volcano could be a sign of preparation for the next great eruption,” said Tatsumi, referring to the findings of hot springs on the seabed, and boiling gas flows that rise to the surface of the ocean.

Trigger Weather Anomaly

The raindrops in the glass windows with a cloudy background enveloped the sky

If the giant caldera erupts, the blast of steam and gas produced will have a serious impact on the global climate. Earth’s temperature will drop a few degrees, so the risk of triggering weather anomalies.

If the weather is anomalous, then the safety of Earth’s population is threatened. The crop failures will occur not only in the Asia Pacific region, but also likely to occur in almost all parts of the Earth.

A new survey involving seismic and electromagnetic sensors, will be juxtaposed with underwater robots to map precisely the shape of the caldera. Thus, it is hoped that later related findings can be key to knowing the signs of what is happening in the giant caldera.

The active lava dome has been a crucial issue for mankind in recent times. Volcanic activity can be a sign of a more powerful volcano eruption in the modern era.

In addition to the gigantic caldera Kikai, volcanic activity of large scale also continues to occur in Yellowstone National Park, United States, and volcanoes near the City of Naples, Italy.

Juicy Corned Beef Special at Hershel’s East Side Deli

This visit takes me to the Reading Terminal Market
and a big heaping juicy Corned Beef Special at Hershel’s East Side Deli.

Right across from DiNic’s, Hershel’s serves all the classic deli meats –
pastrami, brisket, and my favorite, corned beef.

I had the Corned Beef Special (Russian dressing and coleslaw),
and as you can see I had a heck of a time keeping the sandwich together.

I even found some on my backpack as I was putting my gear away.

About Hershel’s

Hershel’s is named after the owner’s uncle Hershel, who fled WWII era Poland to Russia, then to the US,
where he settled in NYC and got a job in 1946 as a cook in Katz’s Deli on Manhattan’s LES.

When Katz’s Deli was sold in 1989, he retired, feeling as though he made his mark.

from the website:
“Steven Safern, together with his partner, Andrew Wash, and with the support of many others,
opened Herschel’s East Side Deli inside Philadelphia’s Reading Terminal Market.

While working in his old-fashioned, Jewish-style deli, Steven is often addressed as “Hershel”
by customers who don’t know his real name.

Far from taking offense to the mistake, Steven says that being called Hershel brings a smile to his face
because it serves as a reminder of the deli’s inspiration.”

“Their food is made from scratch daily – you’ll never see any prepackaged meats or salads.
They carve everything fresh right in front of the customers and make orders to customers’ requests.
Steven believes “that’s how Uncle Hirsh would have wanted it done.””

Enough about what I  think….
