Feinstein Maneuvers For Party Unity

The political game plan is spin.  Feinstein failed to win the primary, she garnered 37% of the votes while her opponent, de Leon garnered 54%.  In California, the top two vote getters advance to the general election, de Leon and Feinstein were the top two.  Since they both are running as democrats, an executive board gets an opportunity to endorse one of them.

The executive board procedure is to have the candidates register to appear on the ballot, Feinstein registered by paying the $1,000 fee.  The endorsement of one of the candidates would ideally unite the party’s support.

For weeks after registering, Feinstein and her team have been calling, emailing and texting the approximately 360 delegates of the party’s executive board.  They determined that de Leon is close to securing the 60% endorsement threshold.  Based on this information, Feinstein now took the position that the delegates should not endorse either candidate in the name of party unity.

It appears that Feinstein’s reign of 26 years is about to come to an end.  She is spinning to hopefully remain on the taxpayer dole.

Trump Stomps Brown

Brown the governor of California, was the last of the Governors to respond to the President’s request to send their National Guard troops to the Mexican boarder. On top of dissing the President’s order by waiting for the last moment to respond, he furthered his opposition by restricting the CA guards to combating criminal gangs, human traffickers and illegal firearm smuggling. He adamantly stated that he does not want them involved in stopping the flow of illegal aliens.

Brown has a history of being in opposition to the Trump administration, his most recent defiant act was to try and make California a sanctuary state. Since his brazen move, several cities have revolted against his order. Shortly after Trump started his war on illegal immigration, Brown ordered the state’s police to ignore orders to report illegals to the INS and to refuse to assist in detaining them.

Trump responded to Brown’s terms “Governor Jerry Brown announced he will deploy ‘up to 400 National Guard Troops’ to do nothing.’ (sic) The crime rate in California is high enough, and the Federal Government will not be paying for Governor Brown’s charade. We need border security and action, not words!”.

Oakland Mayor Complicity

Last month Oakland mayor, Libby Schaaf informed illegal immigrants of a planned secret raid being staged by ICE. According to ICE officials, her actions allow for the escape of as many as 800 illegal immigrants. She later tweeted her reasons for getting out the word, below is the tweet.

I do not regret sharing this information. It is Oakland’s legal right to be a sanctuary city and we have not broken any laws. We believe our community is safer when families stay together.

She may have to eat a little crow as three of the illegal immigrants whom avoided capture didn’t follow through making the city safer. They have been re-arrested for new crimes.

After her actions she was lambasted by Trump as well as Sessions. Per Sessions, “How dare you! How dare you needlessly endanger the lives of our law enforcement officers to promote a radical, open borders agenda”. Trump said “What the mayor of Oakland did the other day was a disgrace”. Trump also contemplated pulling ICE from California.

Regarding the three arrested, one was a Mexican national arrested for robbery and gun crimes whom was released despite an ICE detainer request. Another was a Mexican national whom was arrested for DUI, he was deported three times and had a prior conviction for false imprisonment, DUI and battery of a spouse. The third was a Mexican national who was arrested for corporal injury of a spouse, he was deported twice and had prior convictions for drug possession, hit and run, DUIs, possession of narcotic equipment and a parole violation.

The Justice Department said it is reviewing Schaaf’s actions but has yet to make an announcement.

In a related story from the, Los Alamitos, CA has voted to rescind their title as a sanctuary city. The Los Alamitos City Council voted 4-1 to do away with the title. The one nay vote was cast by Mark Chirco because he feared that it would lead to future litigation.

California Ablaze

As of now (December 5), there are 6 fires on going throughout southern California.  Since information is ever changing when it comes to fires, this will give you a general over view.

In Ventura county the Thomas fire has burnt 50,000+ acres and consumed 150 structures.  It has 0% containment and they estimate at least 3,000 homes are still under threat.  Over 27,000 people have been evacuated.  At this time, the fire is headed toward the city of Ventura.

The Creek fire near Sylmar in Los Angeles county has burnt over 11,000 acres, 11 homes were destroyed and 20 structures were damaged.  Power was lost for 8,000 residents and mandatory evacuations were ordered.  More than 100 patients were voluntarily evacuated from the Mountain View Convalescent Center.  The 210 freeway was closed from the 5 freeway to the 2 freeway due to the fire.

The Rye fire near Santa Clarita in Los Angeles county has burnt more than 5,000 acres and 1,300 homes were evacuated.  The fire is 5% contained but 2,000 homes are without power.  The 5 freeway was closed but has been reopened.  Due to the winds, Simi Valley residents may be affected by evacuation notices.

The Meyers fire near Devore is a 50 acre brush fire caused by downed power lines.  This fire caused the closure of the connector between the 210, 215 and the 15 freeways, the freeway connector has since been reopened.  The fire is 50% contained.

In San Bernardino county, the Little Mountain fire has consumed over 100 acres.  Due to the fire, they initially closed the 215 freeway and called for evacuations.  As of now, the freeway has been reopened and the evacuation orders have been lifted.

In Riverside county, the Riverdale fire has burnt 40 acres and is 50% contained.  This fire was reported to have been caused by a vehicle theft suspect whom allegedly torched the vehicle.  20 homes were threatened but the fire caused none to be destroyed and minor damage to some of the homes.

As this is a very fluid and fast moving situation, there may be other fires which I have not included.  Needless to say, a state of emergency has been declared.
